National level Nanjing Economic and Technological Development Zone (NETDZ), once named Nanjing Xingang Industrial Park, was approved to be set up by Nanjing Municipal Party Commission and Nanjing Municipal Government in Sep 18,1992. it enjoys an economic jursdiction administration at city' s level.

The zone is located in the northern suburb of Nanjing city, bordering Nanjing Xinshengwei Port, the biggest inland river port in China. The zone connects to Nanjing ring road, Shanghai -Nanjing expressway and the second Yangtze River Bridge. Huanbei railway comes into the zone directly. There is 10 kilometers from the zone to the city center. The zone has developed 13.37 km2, including the Wulong Hill scenic spot area, and is opening a new development space. There are some national level, provincial level or local level Parks in the zone.

The zone has developed rapidly since it set up 11 years ago. Enterprises coming from over 20 countries and districts totally invested over 36 billion yuan in the zone, in which foreign funded enterprises are over 270 with total investment over USD 3.5 billion. There are 96 projects' investment over USD 10 million and over 20 enterprises' are invested by world top 500 enterprises. There are 6 main industries in the zone, i.e. electronic information, pharmaceutical, light machinery, fine chemical, new material and logistics. Main economic index increases at an annual rate of 50% averagely. It becomes a main battlefield in Nanjing' s economic development and a key economic growth spur. It has been elected as Advanced Development Zone, Merit Unit for New Nanjing's Construction and Winning Unit in Export Oriented Economic Work in continual years.
