The San Diego Zoo's male giant panda cub gets ready to take a step during an examination Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at the SBC Giant Panda Research Station. Described more as a waddle by the Zoo's animal care staff, the 3-month-old cub took his first steps. Weighing 11.4 pounds, the unnamed male cub continues to develop well and has begun to develop teeth. There is an estimated 1,000 giant pandas left in the wild. The San Diego Zoo is home to four giant pandas, two females and two males. [AP]
