Chongqing beat Shenzhen 1-0 in Chinese first division soccer league

Wang Yang scored a lone goal in the second half to give Chongqing a 1-0 victory over Shenzhen at home in the 22nd round of the Chinese first division soccer league on Sunday.

Shenzhen, which topped the standings before the match, slumped to fourth with 37 points after the shock defeat. Shanghai International now stay atop with 39 points after beating bottom side Shanxi 1-0 on Saturday.

Defending champions Dalian, which notched a 1-0 away victory over Qingdao on Sunday, climbed to second on 37 points.

Shanghai Shenhua were held to a 1-1 draw with Tianjin, missing a good chance to overtake derby rivals International on the top of the table.

Striker Qu Shengqing put Shenhua 1-0 ahead on the stroke of halftime, but Tianjin leveled the score in the 85th minute when defender Cao Yang poked the ball into the net in a goalmouth scramble.

Shenhua now has 37 points from 20 games and has to stay in third place, behind Dalian by goal difference.

In the other matches played on Sunday, Beijing crushed Bayi 5-0, Yunnan came from one goal down to beat Shenyang 2-1 at home.
