( 2003-10-13 20:35) (Xinhua)

Vietnam licensed 42 Chinese-invested projects with registered capital of nearly 64 million US dollars in the first nine months of this year, nearly doubling the figures in 2000.

With projects in 37 cities and provinces of the country, China now ranks the 17th among 62 countries and areas investing in Vietnam, according to a report of Vietnam Investment Review on Monday.

Of 236 valid Chinese-invested projects with registered capital of 425 million US dollars, the industrial and construction sector accounts for 71.6 percent of the projects and 52.6 percent of the capital, and the service sector 13 percent of the projects and 30 percent of the capital.
