Laid-off worker confirmed poisoning water supply in Henan

A 27-year-old male was confirmed of throwing pesticide into a reservoir supplying water for Ruyang county in central China's Henan Province, local police said Monday.

Cao Qian, the suspect who is a laid-off worker, claimed to poison the water in a bid to have his water purifying devices sell well, according to the police.

The water supply of Ruyang county was found to have been infected by pesticide on the morning of Otc. 1. No one was dead but 64 persons were poisoned, of whom 42 have been hospitalized.
