China is seriously concerned about the deteriorating relations between Palestine and Israel, Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said in Beijing yesterday.

"We strongly condemn the suicide bombing attack targeting civilians,'' Kong said in response to questions about Saturday's suicide bombing attack in Israel's northern coastal city of Haifa.

China is clearly opposed to any action that will harm the reconciliation process between Palestine and Israel, and it hopes the two sides will stop the use of violence and any other actions that could aggravate the situation, he said.

Kong urged the two sides to resolve disputes through negotiations as soon as possible.
