Prepare for National Holiday

Customers select red lanterns in a Beijing department store September 24, 2003. Stores selling red lanterns are enjoying booming business with the approach of National Day, which falls on October 1, as many work units and individuals plan celebration activities. [Xinhua]


Workers from the Beijing gardening bureau decorate Tian'anmen Square with flowerbeds for the National Day holiday which runs from October 1 to 7. The landscaping project, first initiated in 1985, is almost complete.
