Shanghai to better funeral services
( 2003-09-17 17:23) (eastday.com)

Shanghai will improve funeral and interment services during its reforms in the sector in the following five years, today's Shanghai Morning Post reported.

One of the major reforms is to make the pricing public and cancel fees for some services, as briefed at an industry-wide conference held yesterday by the city's funeral service center.

Meeting participants said the reforms should lead to an industry practice that service providers show the price lists of services to customers to let them to choose from rather than force them into buying products or services unwanted.

Also resulting from the reforms, examining and approving procedures for bodies of foreigners or Chinese from other part of the country shall be charge free, the participants suggested.
