Authorities address rabies in China
( 2003-09-03 17:21) (CRI.com)

Rabies has claimed the No. 1 killer in China among major infectious diseases.

Nearly 550 people got infected with rabies in the first half of this year, 90 more than last year.

The country's health and qurantine authorities have mapped out an inspection scheme to check the spread of the disease.

The reasons behind the aggravation of rabies are the increasing number of dogs and malmanagement of the dogs, including insufficient and improper vaccination against rabies.
