China, Russia consult on DPRK nuclear talks
( 2003-08-12 14:50) (Xinhua)

China and Russia have agreed that the six-party talks in Beijing will be the best way to peacefully resolve the nuclear issue of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

China's Vice-Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Russian counterpart Alexander Losiukov held in-depth discussions on the issue Monday and agreed to work for a diplomatic solution.

Both sides hoped the six parties would strengthen dialogue and mutual understanding, so as to reduce differences and make concerted efforts to safeguard peace and stability on the Korean peninsula.

After the discussion, Losiukov, who is in Beijing as Wang's guest, met with Chinese Vice-Foreign Minister Dai Bingguo.

According earlier reports, participants to the six-party nuclear talks to be held in Beijing later this month or in September will be the DPRK, the United States, China, the Republic of Korea, Japan and Russia.
