Li Tie set to sign?
( 2003-08-11 10:40) (Ananova, UK)

Everton boss David Moyes is hoping to have signed Chinese midfielder Li Tie on a permanent deal by the start of the season.

Li Tie's loan expired during the summer and since then he has been training and playing with Everton as the Merseysiders struggle to come to an agreement with his Chinese club, Liaoning Bird, over a fee.

But it has been a case of brinkmanship from Everton, with Li Tie caught in the middle of a wrangle over money. The stumbling block has always been the size of the fee, with Everton unwilling to pay more than ¡ê700,000 and the Chinese demanding ¡ê1.5million.

Now Moyes says: "We are getting much closer to an agreed fee.

"I would think it should be completed this week and that he will be in the squad on Saturday.

"We are getting much closer to a fee that we feel is more appropriate and nearer our valuation."
