Andre Agassi was upset by Rainer Schuettler 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 Friday at the Canada Masters in a rematch of the Australian Open final.

Agassi made a series of mistakes from the baseline in the quarterfinal at the hard-court tuneup for the US Open.

"I just kept pressing, and he got the better of me," Agassi said. "Tennis in an interesting game. There can be a lot of reasons why you're not at your best in a given situation. Today, it had a lot to do with him."

The eighth-seeded Schuettler ¡ª who lost to Agassi in straight sets at the year's first Grand Slam tournament ¡ª will play David Nalbandian in the semifinals.

"He made a few mistakes, but I also played really well," said Schuettler, who had been 0-2 against Agassi.

Earlier, Andy Roddick and Roger Federer set up a Wimbledon rematch by winning quarterfinals in straight sets Friday.

Roddick, last year's runner-up, reached the semifinals by beating Karol Kucera 7-6 (5), 6-3, while Federer celebrated his 22nd birthday with a 6-2, 7-6 (3) victory over Max Mirnyi.

After Federer's match, the Wimbledon champion was presented with a birthday cake in the shape of a tennis racket, and the crowd sang "Happy Birthday" in French.

The Swiss star beat Roddick in the semifinals at the All England Club and leads their career series 4-0.

"We always enjoy playing each other. Maybe me a little more, because I walked off as the winner each time," Federer said. "But that doesn't mean it will always be like that. He's stronger on hard courts. He returns better and plays with more confidence."

Federer countered Mirnyi's serve-and-volley game with lobs, deft returns and passing shots.

Nalbandian, the 2002 Wimbledon runner-up, beat Feliciano Lopez 6-4, 6-4.
