City happy to skip Chinese tour - Keegan
( 2003-07-25 17:34) ( www.asian-football.com)

Manchester City Kevin Keegan said on the club's official website that the team are quite happy, for the moment anyway, to give China the pass as the team concentrate on pre-season training in Denmark.

City currently have Chinese international defender Sun Jihai on their ranks and could well be bestowed with an incredible reception in the Far East if the Manchester city had agreed to a tour of China.

"We had the chance to go to China as we have Jihai Sun and we could have made a lot of money, but we turned it down. I don't like to travel too far," explained the former England manager.

"Coming to Denmark is right for us. It is a journey of two hours on the plane, it is easy to travel within the country.

"We know the area now, we know the hotel and the people here and the games which we play are, as I say, just right at this stage of the season.

"If my Chairman says, " I know you don't want to go to China but we need that money," then we have to go and the players would have to accept that," added Keegan.

"But we are not at that stage as yet and I hope it will not be like that in the future."
