Guo Jingjing brought China their third diving title of the world swimming championships when she retained her three-metre springboard crown on Friday.

Guo, Olympic silver medallist at the 2000 Sydney Games behind the supreme Fu Mingxia, compiled an aggregate 617.94 points to win from Russia's Yulia Pakhalina, the 1998 world champion ahead of Guo.

Pakhalina, bronze medallist in 2001, scored 611.58.

Wu Minxia took the bronze for China with 589.80 points, ahead of Russia's Vera Ilyina, the Olympic silver medallist of 1992 and 1996. Ilyina netted 582.93 points.

China's other diving titles in Barcelona have come from Lao Lishi and Li Ting in the women's synchronised 10-metre platform event last Sunday and Xu Xiang in the men's one-metre springboard final on Thursday.
