Three major universities in central-south China's Hunan province launched an
educational reform to encourage students to choose subjects in any of the three
schools.
The prestigious universities, namely, Central-South University, Hunan
University and Hunan Normal University, signed the agreement Tuesday in Yuelu
Academy, one of China's most famous education institutions.
According to the agreement, the credits will be accepted if students choose
subjects or tutors in any of the these universities. They will pool strength in
applying for scientific research, academic activities and purchase of major
teaching aids and sophisticated apparatuses and equipment.
Campus students will get their graduation certificates from the universities
they belong to.
The presidents of the three universities have formed a special committee to
deal with economic problems on the basis of equality and mutual benefits, said
Chen Qiyuan, vice-president of Central- South University.
Meanwhile, Xu Yunzhao, vice-governor of Hunan province, spoke highly of the
joint effort, saying that the act will help promote educational cooperation,
optimize distribution of educational resources and cultivate more high-caliber
intellectuals.
