IOC content with Beijing's progress in Olympic preparation
( 2003-07-04 14:20) (Xinhua)

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) expressed their full content with Beijing's preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games, which they described as "a green light story".

"Into the second year of preparations (for Beijing Games), it is really a green light story," Kevan Gosper, vice president of IOC's Coordination Commission for the 2008 Games, said here on Thursday.

His remarks came after Beijing organizing committee briefed the 115th IOC session on their preparation for the Games in such major areas as venue construction, marketing, media and communication, competition management and games service.

The Coordination Commission has made no hesitation in lavishing their praises on Beijing organizers, thinking their work has been way ahead of schedule.

Gosper, also member of the IOC's evaluation commission for the 2008 Games, said that Beijing Games has enjoyed full-hearted support from the Government and Chinese people.

"It will be Chinese Games for Olympic Movement," he said.

The Australian added that the Coordination Commission is very pleased to work with Beijing organizers, which they rated as a " very strong team".

"The relationship, the understanding, the mutual trust (between us) couldn't be beyond higher level," he said.

"It is a pleasure to work with them." ®MDNM*
