Dongguan, a booming city in south China's Guangdong province, is planning to build special residential quarters called "Taiwan Village" to meet the needs of an ever-increasing number of the Taiwanese investors in the city.

To date, a total of 5,200 Taiwanese-funded enterprises have been set up in Dongguan, with Taiwanese investors and their family members numbering 150,000, said Zhang Hanwen, director of the Dongguan-based Taiwanese Enterprises Investment Association.

About two or three such Taiwan Villages will be built in the city this year, which will create a community environment with a unique Taiwanese style, Zhang added.

He noted that the Taiwanese residential quarters will be built in the picturesque towns and districts where the Taiwanese enterprises are mostly concentrated, said Zhang, adding that the move has gained vigorous support from the municipal government.
