An Anglo-Sino forum in Shanghai focusing on meeting the challenges of global trade, has just concluded.

Leaders of business and government came together to discuss the broad issues, but particularly how to best promote trade between the two nations.

The municipal government of Shanghai is intent on improving its business management expertise to ensure equality in the market, said the Mayor of Shanghai Chen Liangyu.

All the companies in the city should enjoy equal status, while State-owned Enterprises should enhance their own core competence with more flexible approaches of management, added Chen.

The mayor made his remarks at the high-level CEO Forum organized by the Shanghai Municipality, British Consulate-General, and China-Europe International Business School and Accenture China.

The forum, which closed yesterday, attracted over 40 senior officials, CEOs and experts from both countries. Its theme was "Meeting the Challenges and Opportunities of the Global Economy."

Chen said: "As the trends of economic globalization are getting more obvious, not only products, investment, but also human resources are moving in a worldwide market, all of which require new management methods. So these were the issues on which the forum focused."
