A Chinese army chief stressed Tuesday the importance of peace, stability and dialogue in China's foreign and defense policy.

Fu Quanyou, chief of General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), made the remarks at a meeting with a delegation from the Armed Forces of Romania, headed by Nicoalae Pastinica, general inspector of Armed Forces of Romania.

"Peace is better than war, stability is better than disturbance and dialogue is better than confrontation," said Fu.

Fu said the Chinese army attaches importance to developing its relationship with the Romanian army and has always been active in promoting the friendly cooperative ties between the two armies, he said.

China will continue its efforts to further push forward the friendly relations between the two countries, Fu added.

On the Taiwan issue, Fu Quanyou expressed appreciation of Romania's adherence to the one-China policy.

Pastinica said the delegation members have admired the great changes of the socialist modernization of China they have witnessed during their visit.

Romania and China have close cooperation with the United Nations' peace-keeping mission, as the organization is an important force in maintaining regional stability and world peace, he said.
