Two Palestinians killed, ten injured in Gaza Strip

Two Palestinians were killed and ten others injured during an overnight Israeli incursion in the Gaza Strip, witnesses said early Monday.

Abed al Fatah Saloud, 44, and Rama Abou Samala, 50, were killed when Israeli tanks and helicopter gunships opened fire during the overnight incursion into the autonomous Palestinian town of Khan Younes, a Palestinian security source said.

The tanks launched cannon and heavy machine-gun fire as they entered the town. The accompanying helicopters also fired off missiles and machine guns, the source said.

There was no immediate confirmation from the Israeli army.

Earlier on Sunday evening, a Palestinian rocket was fired at a Jewish settlement in the northern Gaza Strip wityhout causing any injuries or damage, a military source said.
