Supermodel Kate Moss slightly hurt in car crash
( 2001-09-07 13:50 ) (7 )

British supermodel Kate Moss was flown by air ambulance to hospital after being injured in a car crash on Thursday, her spokeswoman said.

The model, whose waifish frame and delicate features have adorned countless magazine covers over the last 10 years, suffered a shoulder injury but was released from Basildon Hospital in Essex after treatment.

Moss was a passenger in a Range Rover car driven by a male companion when it was involved in a collision with another vehicle driven by an elderly man and his wife.

Both cars were travelling in the same direction on the A13 dual carriageway road near Orsett, in south Essex, north of London, when the accident occurred, a police spokesman told Reuters.

"She and her driver suffered minor injuries and Kate has now been discharged," a spokeswoman for her model agency, Storm Models, told Reuters.

"Originally they thought it was a lot more serious. She hasn't sustained any injuries to her face. As far as we are aware it's bumps and bruises."

She said Moss had been on her way to a Vogue magazine fashion shoot which had since been cancelled.

The elderly couple in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and bruising, and were also taken to hospital, police said.

Last year Moss was rushed to hospital with a severe kidney infection, but checked out a few days later. In 1998 she was admitted to London's Priory clinic which has treated many celebrities for drink and drug problems.

Her successful modelling career has brought her superstar status as well as a fortune estimated at 15 million pounds (US$22 million).
