Mother sues after door scars her son

A woman has demanded 200,000 yuan ($31,760) in compensation from a store in which her 4-year-old son was seriously wounded when a glass door shattered in Chengdu last month. Surveillance footage showed that the glass door inside a shopping mall suddenly broke apart, raining shards of glass onto the boy's face after he pushed the door open. The mother, who was shopping for a cellphone, grabbed her son and rushed to the hospital. She said she is worried the incident, which has left her son with facial scars, could affect his development. The store manager has argued that both the store and the mother should shoulder responsibility for the accident, contending that parents should watch over their children at all times in public places.
