RCSC closes its commercial wing
The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) on Dec 31 announced it is shutting down its commercial wing after an investigation showed it went against its nonprofit mission in raising money for philanthropy, China Philanthropy Times reported.
The investigation also showed that Guo Meimei, a 20-year-old woman, who claimed to be the commercial general manager of the Red Cross on weibo and who boasted about her extravagant lifestyle, had no connection with the RCSC.
