Man cleared of raping his girlfriend compensated

A man who wrongfully spent almost a year in detention after his girlfriend claimed he had raped her received 36,000 yuan in compensation after being cleared off the crime.

Daxing district procuratorate said it was a mistake to charge the 20-year-old, Beijing Morning Post reported on Monday.

On March 24, the procuratorate compensated Wang Jie for the 328 days that he had spent in the detention house, the newspaper said.
