Twins eyeing ticket bounce after Mauer deal

Minnesota looking for financial boost after re-signing star catcher

NEW YORK - Minnesota Twins fans will sleep easier after Joe Mauer penned a new eight-year deal, but club officials may have a few restless nights hoping ticket sales go some way to recouping his mammoth $184 million contract.

Considered the best catcher in baseball, the 26-year-old inked a contract that will see him earn $23 million a year at a club whose payroll amounted to $65 million last season.
