Driver allegedly kidnapped by 'friend' seeking jade seal

A gang accused of kidnapping an unlicensed Daxing taxi driver and demanding his ancestral imperial jade seal as ransom, was arrested by the Daxing district police.

The alleged gang leader is the victim's former cellmate, the police said on Monday.

The driver, Ding Yuan, a 45-year-old Beijinger was convicted of causing a public disturbance by the Fengtai district court sometime in the 1990s and finished serving his sentence in 2005.
