Cemeteries prepare for hoards of mourners over day for dead

By Wang Chao | China Daily | Updated: 2010-03-22 07:55

With only two weeks to go before Tomb Sweeping Day on April 5, cemeteries are gearing up for an annually large turnout of mourners.

Tomb Sweeping Day is both a traditional celebration and an opportunity to commemorate the dead.

Major cemeteries in Beijing have made promises to sell flowers at reasonable rates, operate express buses to cemeteries and perform maintenance work on ash storage rooms, according to Beijing News yesterday.
