Policies should look to expand employment
ACFTU vice-chairman and member of the Secretariat
In the face of the challenges brought about by the international financial crisis, China's trade unions have been actively participating in employment policy formulation and protecting the employment rights of workers. To insure workers' interests and a sustainable social and economic development, ACFTU advocates:
First, giving priority to employment in government policies and implementing a more active employment policy. The use of financial, taxation and credit policy measures should be maximized to expand employment. The development of labor-intensive enterprises and small and medium-sized enterprises' development should be encouraged.
Second, maintaining employment stability and promoting decent work. Aid to enterprises in trouble should be increased. The function of unemployment insurance, employment promotion and employment law should be maximized. Enterprises are encouraged to conscientiously take on social responsibilities.
Third, increasing efforts to protect workers who have difficulties in finding jobs to better maintain their legitimate rights and interests.
Fourth, strengthening social dialogue and international cooperation to promote sustainable development.
