The 2010 International Forum on Economic Globalization and Trade Unions ended recently with every success. The delegates have explained how they took measures to combat the global financial crisis, exchanged their views about issues like employment and sustainable development, and made suggestions on how to get out of the crisis and protect the interests of employees.
Through this forum, we have achieved common understanding. Our conclusions are as follows.
It is an important task for the whole world to take part in the economic management in the post-crisis era. To deal with the crisis, different nations should cooperate with each other to reform the financial structure and improve the monitoring system. Developing countries should be granted more say in order to build a new international financial system with justice, balance and order.
It is a common responsibility for the whole of society to boost sustainable development. Trade unions and workers across the world should support their governments in environmental protection and energy saving, to achieve green growth.
It is the aim of trade unions to achieve full employment and social security. Trade unions of all countries should take part in improving their social security systems, see to it that all policies about employment be implemented, and train their employees, allowing them to share the fruit of the economic and social development.
I'd like to take this chance to make some suggestions.
First, we should encourage workers to join trade unions, and improve the capability of the trade unions.
Second, we should secure people's right to be employed.
Third, cooperation and exchanges should be enhanced between trade unions.
The forum has been held six times in China, becoming a platform for trade unions in various countries to understand and exchange ideas with each other.
