The opening ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo on May 1 will be staged on the Huangpu River with fireworks and a laser performance, an organizing official said.
Shanghai is nearing its final preparations for the event and visitors should expect a "surprising" show, said Wan Jifei, executive director of the Shanghai 2010 World Expo Executive Committee.
