'I have the confidence to chase my dreams'

Ye Mingzi, granddaughter of veteran Chinese Communist general Ye Jianying, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress from 1978 to 1983, just got married - on Sept 9.

"In China we call this '999', and it's a special and auspicious date," she writes in an e-mail to China Daily.

Ye was born in Beijing in 1979. She went to grade school and college in Hong Kong and later, Britain. However, she and her family spent most of their holidays in Beijing and Guangzhou.
