Updated: 2008-07-24 07:35 Drug suspect out on bail An Australian journalist who faces up to 20 years' jail for alleged drug trafficking has been released on bail pending a court hearing, a Singapore court official said yesterday. Australian Broadcasting Corp journalist Peter Lloyd, who was arrested and charged with possessing and selling about 1 gram of methamphetamine last week, will re-appear in court again on Friday, Subordinate Courts of Singapore spokeswoman Elyana Ishak said. "The bail was set at S$60,000 ($44,150)," she added. If found guilty of trafficking, Lloyd could be jailed for up to 20 years and given 15 strokes of the cane. (China Daily 07/24/2008 page11) |
