The defacer, surnamed He, has had the franchise for a brand of Korean-made garments for many years. When another clothing store selling clothes of the same brand opened recently, He suspected his new rival of selling counterfeit products and so robbing him of business. He was taken into police custody after defacing his rival's shop window on a charge of willfully destroying private property. (Dongfang Jinbao)
Senior citizen's brolly saves life of falling baby A female senior citizen of Zhengzhou, capital of Henan province, used her umbrella to save a 2-year-old girl's life when the toddler fell from a 4th floor window. The infant climbed up on the window ledge, slipped and fell while alone at home one afternoon. Fortunately, a woman in her 70s directly below was holding an umbrella as she played with her granddaughter. Upon looking up and seeing the baby girl fall, she quickly inverted here brolly. Although it did not withstand the force of the fall, the umbrella significantly reduced the velocity with which she hit the ground. The baby was saved.
