It isn't very often that a journalist in Beijing gets to sit down and drink several good glasses of wine with a real prince. But it happened recently, when His Royal Highness, Prince Robert of Luxembourg was guest of honor at a wine tasting to mark the opening of French restaurant Maison Boulud, at the Legation Quarter.

Prince Robert is vice-president and managing director of Domaine Clarence Dillon wines in France and a lifelong wine lover. He was joined by winemaker and vineyard colleague Jean-Philippe Delmas and together they presented the wines of Domaine Clarence Dillon, including Chateau Haut-Brion and Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion.

Located in the Pessac Leognan region of Bordeaux, Chateau Haut-Brion is the only Chateau to be recognized in both the 1855 Mdoc classification and the 1953 Graves classification. Renowned for being one of the most aromatic and complex wines in the world, Chateau Haut-Brion is among the oldest and smallest of the First Grand Cru Class, making it an extremely rare pleasure.

Vines have been cultivated there for nearly 600 years and the wine evolved with time until it was officially consecrated as a First Growth in 1855.

The winery continues to flourish under the stewardship of the Prince and the 2005 launch of Clarendelle wines, the first premium brand of Bordeaux, marks their commitment to lead their legendary wine region into the future.

Prince Robert of Luxembourg recommends the following wines:

Chateau Bahans Haut-Brion 2003, Chateau Haut-Brion 2nd Label Pessac Lognan

Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion 2002, Grand Cru Class de Graves Pessac Lognan

Chateau Haut-Brion 1995, 1st Grand Cru Class Pessac Lognan
