Updated: 2008-07-03 07:39 Debt to Bulgaria paid off Bulgaria's Finance Ministry says Iraq has paid $360 million to settle its debts to Bulgaria. A ministry statement says yesterday's payment follows a 2007 agreement that revised Iraq's total debt to Bulgaria from $1.86 billion to $3.5 billion. The calculation took into account inflation and interest accrued. Bulgaria agreed to Baghdad's request that it be allowed to clear the debt with a one-time cash payment at a ratio of 10.25 cents for every dollar owed. (China Daily 07/03/2008 page12) |
