The process will be completed within the day when the application is filed. Car owners will have to follow an odd-and-even-licensed-plate rule that allows them to drive into the city only on alternate days, between July 20 and Sept 20.
Vehicle ban The government has repaired the roads and reinforced bridges on the National Highway 112 and 109, which circle Beijing, as more trucks will travel on the highways from today. Some freight trucks will not be allowed to enter Beijing and will have to make a detour to surrounding provinces. The ban will last until Sept 20. Vans used to deliver fresh farm produce to Beijing are exempted from the restriction. High-emission or yellow-labeled vehicles will also be banned from Beijing roads from today. Medals on way Six thousand Olympic and Paralympic Games medals will be delivered to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad on Thursday, Dai Zhijian, president of BHP China region, the official medal sponsor of Beijing Olympic Games, said. Both the Olympic and Paralympic Games require 3,000 medals each, 1,000 gold, silver and bronze, respectively. Materials for making the medals were imported from Australia and Chile, and the jade which embodies the traditional Chinese value of ethnics and honor, is from the Kunlun Mountain range in west China.
