1.5m books in online library

The 'world's biggest' digital library of classic Asian academic and literary works now contains 1.5 million items, 500,000 more than originally planned, Chinese researchers involved in the project have said.

Launched as The Million Book Project in 2002, the renamed Universal Digital Library has been compiled by specialists from the Carnegie Mellon University in the United States, Zhejiang University in China, the Indian Institute of Science and the Library at Alexandria in Egypt.
