China trounces Myanmar 7-0 in qualifying opener
FOSHAN, Guangdong Province: China stormed to a stylish 7-0 victory over Myanmar to open its 2010 World Cup qualifying tour at the Century Lotus Stadium yesterday.
Striker Qu Bo opened the scoring on 17 minutes with an accurate shot following Sun Xiang's left wing cross. Midfielder Du Zhenyu smashed home at the edge of the area eight minutes later.
Tall forward Yang Lin struck in the 55th minute. Substitutes Liu Jian and Li Jinyu, and skipper Li Weifeng added three more, before Qu Bo rounded off the night with a sharp low shot.

Two golds for Chinese short-track speed skaters
HARBIN, Heilongjiang Province: South Koreans dominated the opening stop of the 2007-08 International Skating Union (ISU) Short Track Speed Skating World Cup in Harbin, northeast China's Heilongjiang Province, as they grabbed six out of ten gold medals last weekend.
China's Olympic gold medalist Wang Meng claimed two top prizes for the host country in women's 1,000m and 500m.
She also led the Chinese team to a first place in the women's 3,000 relay.
Wang's teammate Fu Tianyu clinched a silver medal in the women's 500m and Zhou Yang and Liu Qiuhong settled bronze in the first and second races of women's 1,500, respectively.
Canadian Francois-Louis Tremblay won the men's 500m.
