Beijing yesterday slammed an annual report by the US Congressional-Executive Commission on China, saying it grossly interfered in the country's internal affairs by making groundless accusations of China on social and judicial systems, the family planning policy and the human rights situation.

"We demanded the US government seriously respect China's position and take concrete measures to clear up its negative impact," Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao said yesterday at the regular press briefing.

Trilateral meeting

The foreign ministers of China, Russia and India will meet next week to discuss practical cooperation in various fields and exchange views on international and regional issues.

The meeting, scheduled for next Wednesday, will be held in Harbin of Heilongjiang Province, Liu said. The third of its kind, the meeting is not targeted against any other countries.

Six-Party talks

A group of US nuclear experts met with their Chinese counterparts in Beijing yesterday afternoon after returning from Pyongyang, Liu said.

The experts stayed in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) since last Thursday as part of the follow-up measures to the latest round of nuclear talks to make preparations for further disabling the country's nuclear facilities.

Liu said the working group would also soon hold a meeting to discuss fulfilling the second-phase actions for the implementation of a joint statement adopted in September 2005.

It is reported that the US will dispatch the second group of nuclear experts to the DPRK on Saturday.
