Green donation

China Population Welfare Foundation yesterday received a donation of 5.75 million yen from three Japanese organizations.

The donation will be used to plant trees in Dingxi, Northwest China's Gansu Province, where vegetation has been severely damaged because of overpopulation and consecutive drought. The Japanese donors are Cosmo oil Company, Japan 2050, a not-for-profit association, and the Greenery Fund of the National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization.

Fire emergency plans

The National Grand Theater has mapped out emergency response plans for six key areas in case of fire.

As many as 30 fire engines from four fire brigades deployed nearby will rush to the scene, the Beijing Evening News reported.

Better management

The State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) has classified some 61 kinds of commonly used medical appliances into three categories, in a bid to better regulate the management over them.

The classification is part of the preparative work for a prospective regulation, which the SFDA is still revising, which will introduce basic requirements for the safety and effectiveness of medical appliances and uniform the naming system.
