Peaceful election environment promised

Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz yesterday said that the government would take all necessary measures to ensure a peaceful environment before and during the presidential election.

The law enforcing agencies had been instructed to adopt appropriate courses of action to protect the life and property of the people and no one would be allowed to violate the law of the land, Aziz said.

Aziz said the government believed in dialogue with all the political forces to achieve consensus on all issues of national importance and it would lead to further strengthening democratic process in the country. He added that negative politics had been rejected by the masses and all political parties should upheld the national interest for the cause of their homeland.
