Wholesale expo

The 25th World Union of Wholesale Markets Congress and Expo is expected to kick off in Beijing on September 3, the first time for the biennial global wholesale industry event to be held in an Asian city. This year's four-day event has attracted over 100 international wholesalers and a group of veteran wholesale and logistics experts who will present their services, technologies and information.

Silicon Valley meet

"China, Globalization, and the Shifting Global Power Equation" conference will be held in the Silicon Valley on May 2 to discuss the impact of globalization of Chinese companies. Executives from top Chinese companies including Lenovo and NetEase.com as well as US firms such as Yahoo! and McAfee will exchange their views at the meeting. Organized by Hua Yuan Science and Technology Association, the conference has been held annually since 2005 to increase exchanges between companies in Beijing and the Silicon Valley.

Hotel deal

Langham Hotels International, a Hong Kong-based hotel group, yesterday signed a deal with Union Land Property to manage a five-star hotel in Beijing's Chaoyang District. With over 400 rooms, Beijing Langham Hotel will be Langham Hotels International Group's first project on the mainland.

NANJING

Insurer opens branch

Skandia-BSAM Life Insurance Co, a joint venture insurer specializing in long-term wealth management, opened its Nanjing branch yesterday. The company has just received a cash injection of 80 million yuan from its foreign shareholder, bringing its registered capital to 320 million yuan.
