Peter's Tex-Mex(shanghai.urbanatomy.com)

It reads like a movie script: a down-home cowboy with big city dreams ventures East, only to find himself outclassed and out of his league. Such is the tale of Peter's Tex-Mex, a Chengdu import. To the restaurant's credit, the margaritas (RMB 40) were excellent. But while our chips and homemade salsa (RMB 32) were pleasant, the guacamole (RMB 30) was a peculiar dark brown color – and flavorless. This sad spectacle fouled our mood and the greasy ambassador tacos al carbon (RMB 68), smothered in a thin, yogurt-like 'sour cream', didn't set things right. It must be said that the manager was a genuine pleasure to chat with, but Peter's food is perfunctory at best and with both Bubba's and Mexico Lindo within walking distance, it will take more than talk to win us back. Daily 7:30am-11:30pm. |
