Residents of Jinqiao need not trek downtown just to enjoy a glass of vino. Now, with its elegant, if somewhat corporate-oriented location, Vino Villa provides Pudong dwellers with a stylish, grown-up alternative to the area's numerous family-oriented options.
Inside, the casual ambiance is maintained with simple settings of wooden tables and red, cushioned chairs. Unfortunately (though the situation will likely improve with time), the current wine list failed to impress: a few standard selections of Old and New World wines were offered by the bottle. Still, we did find an unusual Kendall-Jackson Zinfandel/Shiraz 1998 (RMB 40 by the glass); the blend was wonderful with rich blackberry aromas contrasted with subtle flavors of vanilla and oak.
But though the food menu features a typical range of tapas (RMB 28-108), pastas (RMB 40-35), and salads (RMB 38-58), the draw here is definitely wine.
