Zeta's location just opposite the Shanghai Television Station on Weihai Lu is no accident-rather it's a convenient stop for small-screen stars who, it seems, regularly swing by for a cellulite treatment or session of high-frequency facial tightening. The spa has been operating for 10 years in Hong Kong, and has just opened its first Shanghai branch. Its straightforward appearance belies an impressive complement of high-tech machinery tucked away in seven treatment rooms, along with a large range of organic skincare products from Australian herbal brand Jurlique, for which Zeta is the sole Asian agent. One particularly exciting treatment, which is all the rage in Hollywood and never seen before in China, is the VelaSmooth – a pain-free, non-surgical alternative to liposuction that looks just like a Hoover and is said to break up and flush out cellulite deposits using radio frequency and infra-red light in 35-minute sessions over three weeks. Zeta also offers laser treatments to remove unwanted hair, wrinkles and acne scars, an extensive range of powerful facials, and a Vichy bath using high-pressure streams of water and LED lights to relax and stimulate the body.
