Updated: 2008-02-21 11:04 "We will focus on the fact that if you want to be a good singer, there are a number of things that must be done regimentally to get you to where you want to be. That includes breathing correctly, your posture, voice placement, etc," the Australian performer says. It's always important for music performers to learn as much as possible about their instrument, she says. "For musicians, it's their physical instrument; for singers, it's their voice." The class will be a taste of voice coaching. "We won't learn any actual songs, as it's only a one-and-a-half-hour class, just the basics of techniques that students can improve if they study." Taylor draws on her own experience of learning to sing, getting started in the business and struggling that come with being a performer. "I can teach the correct techniques and how to combine them with the ability to tell your story through your songs." Taylor's own musical background is strong. "Both of my parents are Hungarian and I grew up in a very strict Eastern European-type household," she says. "Being Hungarian, we are very passionate about our traditional music." Taylor retains delightful memories of get-togethers with family and friends, "my dad playing guitar, my mom on bass guitar (my dad made her learn to play when I was five) and other family friends on different instruments and everyone gathering around singing and dancing for hours." |
