Much for readers to digest(China Daily)
Updated: 2008-02-15 10:42 "The timing is right as we managed to find a good partner for this copyright cooperation in order to ensure a successful launch," says Mary Berner, who became president and CEO of the now privately held Reader's Digest Association on March 2, 2007, while launching Puzhi in Beijing.
Puzhi magazine, which is the same size as Reader's Digest in the United States, features similar content. "Through this cooperation, readers in China can enjoy a locally published magazine with international flavor and high editorial quality that will provide a window on the world." Puzhi, which is the same size as Reader's Digest in the United States, features similar content as well. Topics range from wealth management and career planning to healthy sleeping, marriage building and an interview with Hong Kong pop king Andy Lau. According to RDA's research, Chinese readers were looking for a family-orientated magazine, says to Wang Youbu, general manager of SPPD and editor-in-chief of Puzhi magazine. While several Asia markets are growing fast, China offers the greatest long-term potential, as its huge population now starts to seek out the latest information concerning fashion, science and health. Berner says its Puzhi's circulation is now 420,000. It is available at about 43,000 retail outlets (including convenience stores, book stores and subways), newsstands and kiosks across 43 cities and 25 provinces in China. However, the magazine faces big challenges in the world's most populous country. |
