Personality crisis in motion

The music was good though and we settled into our high, white table and stools. Our rum and Coke (RMB55) and a beer (RMB40) came quickly as we enjoyed the live Latin band.

We found out from the manager that the bar will also feature DJs since they were still "figuring out their direction." Since the majority of the tightly clustered seating is in front of the stage, the venue seems more geared to live music than the club scene. However, the decor matches the manager's ambivalence: part cool club, part warm live music venue.

Hanging over the cool white bar is an "old" Chinese wooden arch which is almost complemented by the life size stone Buddhas situated around the bar. The interior is completed by the unfinished ceiling and "crystal" chandeliers.

Barring the interesting decor, the venue works well for live music and the staff is friendly, but their indecision makes us worry that this will be yet another Shanghai bar that can't find its niche.
