For afternoon cocktails

This swanky lounge, Bund 18's newest destination, sets a stylish but subdued tone.

The well-designed space, with its Victorian-style chandeliers bathing the stately Queen Anne wing chairs in warm, sensual hues, delivers a sense of sophistication and elegance.

Further, the high ceilings add a touch of drama and accentuate the bar's stunning skyline view. Not given to lingering at the entrance, however, we were promptly escorted to a table by the neatly-dressed hostess. From the limited menu, we selected a raspberry cosmopolitan and a mojito (RMB 70 each).

To our delight, both were exceptionally well-made and happily served with complimentary snacks. Ultimately, with a set of doors leading to the art gallery, Lounge 18 is a best bet for afternoon cocktails.

After gallery hours, though, visitors will still enjoy an intimate setting away from crowds of pretentious partygoers.

Open: Daily 2pm-2am.
Location: 4/F, 18 Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu, by Nanjing Dong Lu.
