Although autumn has arrived according to Chinese lunar calendar, which began on August 8, we can still feel summer's presence. The hot and damp weather doesn't motivate people to leave an air-conditioned room even for a minute. It's cool indeed, but how can you fill your stomach by staying indoors? There is a solution-takeout with a delivery service. Here are some options.

Beijing

1 Fengnian Guanchang (sausage)

Guanchang is a traditional Beijing snack. It’s made by stewing chitterlines, or pork intestines, together with starch and other seasonings. The sausage is fried and then eaten together with garlic and salt. It’s said Guanchang was one of the favorite snacks of the Empress Dowager Cixi, who ruled China in the last decades of the 19th century.

Fengnian Guanchang is an eatery with a history of offering the best and most authentic Guanchang. It costs about 5 yuan to get a dish of fried Guanchang and an extra yuan to get a bowl of hot millet porridge. The porridge is the ideal complement to the greasy food.

Apart from Guanchang, diners can also find meat pies, and suanlafen (sour and spicy rice noodles) here.

2 Subway

This is a popular American fast food chain store which diners can find almost everywhere in Beijing. Subway offers various sandwiches, as well as some cookies which are well worth a try.

As Subway advocates providing healthy fast food, most sandwiches offered here contain quite a few vegetables. Recommended sandwiches are: tuna salad and crab meat salad sandwiches.

If you visit Subway on Tuesdays, diners who buy two sandwiches may get one for free. And if you pay an extra 5 yuan, , you can get unlimited refills on your drinks.

3 Shuangma Eatery

Hidden in Wudaokou, one of Beijing’s most international spots, Shuangma Eatery offers the most original Japanese curry dishes.

Try the pork cutlet dish, as the pork cutlet is absolutely delicious, breaded and then deep-fried with a crispy outside, and tender meat inside. Another item on the menu, curry rice noodles, is also worth a try. The rice noodles here are first fried and then cooked in curry. The dish is served with more spicy curry sauce diners can add for an extra hot dining experience.

Every November 11, people can dine for free at Shuanma.
